Consultancy service
Consultation and Estimate
When first contacted, I will visit the site to assess the garden’s possibilities and limitations. We will then discuss your personal requirements: contemporary, remodelling, restoration or rationalisation.
From this initial consultation I will prepare a cost estimate for the design work, which will be sent to the client for approval. There is a small fee for this initial visit, which will be offset against further design work should you decide to proceed.
The Garden Designer is often brought on board at the same time as commissioning an architect, either on a new build, or when extending an existing property. This approach is strongly advisable, since it enables both parties to be made fully aware of each others’ vision, hence maximising the efficiency and functionality of alterations to the property and the outside space at an early stage.
My fees will be based on a percentage of the contract costs, and will range from 5-15%+ depending on the size of the project. When considering how much to spend, clients are encouraged to treat the garden as a financial investment, and budget for between 4-10% of the property value as a realistic figure.
* Minor changes to the design are normally free of charge. However, all major changes will be liable to a cost equivalent to a total re-design.
